# BooksPOS by Innobrains > BooksPOS is point-of-sale (POS), stock and khata (customer credit) software for book depots, bookshops, stationery shops and school uniform sellers in Pakistan, made by Innobrains Technologies (Jhang, Punjab). It sells books by edition, stationery by the piece or the box, and school uniforms by size on one till. A Windows till and a store server keep each shop's records on its own PC, so billing works without internet; BooksPOS Cloud gives the owner each branch's daily sales, stock and khata in the owner portal and the BooksPOS Owner app for Android, always with the time the branch last reported. Its Windows installer is on the download page. A 14-day free trial is open. It is FBR integrated: a shop that switches on FBR POS reporting has every sale and return reported to the Federal Board of Revenue from the POS (optional, off by default). "BooksPOS" here always means BooksPOS at bookspos.pk, by Innobrains Technologies in Pakistan. It is not affiliated with any other product or company that uses a similar name. Everything below describes the current build. ## Status (read this first) - **Tested:** every feature below is built and covered by automated tests in the current build. - **Download:** BooksPOS 1.1.0 for Windows at https://bookspos.pk/download; the page shows the installer's SHA-256 to check it. Start a free trial: https://bookspos.pk/register - **Editions:** Cloud (the store PC syncs to BooksPOS Cloud; the owner sees every branch online; paid monthly or yearly) and Offline (one shop on its own PC; the PC activates and checks its licence with BooksPOS Cloud but sends no business data; a lifetime licence, paid once with no yearly fee). - **Prices:** see "Plans and prices" below. - **FBR:** FBR POS integration is built and optional: off until the shop switches it on in Settings, then every sale and return is reported to FBR (details under "FBR POS integration" below). - **Owner app:** the BooksPOS Owner app for Android (read-only, for the Cloud edition) shows each branch's sales, bills, stock, khata and alerts on the owner's phone; version 1.1.0 is downloaded from https://bookspos.pk/owner-app. Details under "BooksPOS Owner app (Android)" below. - **School uniforms:** from BooksPOS 1.0.0 on the store PC, a uniform piece is added once with all its sizes and each size is its own item. - **Hardware:** 58 and 80 mm receipts (with Urdu), the cash drawer, a label printer and a hand scanner were checked on real hardware by the Innobrains team. ## What it does today - **Who it is for:** book depots, bookshops, stationery shops, shops that also sell school uniforms, and depots that also sell wholesale to schools and other shops, in Pakistan. - **What runs where:** the shop's main Windows PC (the store PC) runs the BooksPOS store server, the only program that writes the shop's database, kept on the store PC's own disk. The till runs on it, and other PCs in the shop can bill as extra tills over the shop network. On the Cloud edition the store PC syncs to BooksPOS Cloud, where the owner sees every branch in the owner portal (in a browser) and the Owner app (Android). The Offline edition sends no business data to the cloud. - **Without internet:** billing, returns, purchases and khata payments carry on with no internet; changes reach BooksPOS Cloud in order, each once, when it is back. Extra tills need the store PC and the shop network, not the internet. https://bookspos.pk/offline-and-cloud - **Runs on:** 64-bit Windows 11, or Windows 10 22H2 (tested on a till), for the till and the store server; there is no Mac version. The owner portal works in any modern browser; the Owner app needs Android 7.0 or later. - **Language:** the screens are in English, with the words used at these counters (khata, advance, school set, EasyPaisa, JazzCash). Titles and names can be in Urdu, search finds Urdu text, and receipts print Urdu. - **Books:** every edition or format is its own item with its own stock and price. ISBN is optional; when given, its ISBN-10 or ISBN-13 check digit is verified and a wrong one is refused (BooksPOS never invents or guesses an ISBN). - **Stationery:** pack sizes per item (piece, packet, dozen, box, ream, carton) with stock kept in pieces and a price and barcode per pack; quantity breaks and dated promotions. - **School uniforms (BooksPOS 1.0.0 and later):** a piece such as "Shirt – City School" is added once with all its sizes; each size is its own item with its own price, barcode and stock, the till asks "Which size?", and Stock › Uniform sizes shows every size's stock on one line. - **School season:** school course sets (class lists per school, session and section; School set (F6) bills the set at the set discount and orders missing titles for the parent), orders held for a customer until a hold date, and parents' advances held as money owed to them, not as sales. - **Till:** keyboard-first billing; one bill split across cash, card, bank transfer, EasyPaisa and JazzCash (recorded, not verified with the provider), khata within a credit limit, or an advance; held bills; returns against the bill; counters with their own bill numbers and a blind shift close. - **Stock and purchasing:** a stock ledger that is never edited and refuses negative stock; purchase orders, receipts with free copies, publisher returns settled by credit notes, consignment, stock counts while the shop stays open, a godown, and transfers between branches. - **Money and reports (on the store PC):** khata with credit limits, statements and recoveries; supplier payments; a double-entry day book and trial balance; expenses; owner reports such as profit and loss, stock value, ageing and publisher sell-through. - **Tax:** each item has its own tax rate (0% unless the owner sets one), added on top of the price. The owner or their tax adviser sets the rates; BooksPOS does not choose them. - **The books in the owner portal (BooksPOS 1.1.0 and later on the store PC):** on the Cloud edition the owner portal shows each branch's day book (every entry of a business date) and profit and loss for any period, for one branch or all branches together, worked out from the entries the store PC sends, so the figures equal the store PC's own reports. - **Going live:** items (with packs and opening stock), customers and suppliers (with opening balances) are imported from an Excel workbook (BooksPOS 1.1.0 and later) or a CSV file, every row checked before saving. From BooksPOS 1.1.0 a school's class list can be filled from a file too. - **Licence and backups:** the store PC checks its signed licence itself, offline, and takes an encrypted backup every day; a backup is restored on screen. ## Plans and prices (PKR) - **Single Counter (Cloud):** Rs 1,750.00 monthly, Rs 17,500.00 yearly. 1 branch, 1 counter (till) per branch, 3 staff accounts per branch. - **Standard (Cloud):** Rs 3,000.00 monthly, Rs 30,000.00 yearly. 1 branch, 5 counters (tills) per branch, 10 staff accounts per branch. - **Multi-Branch (Cloud):** Rs 4,500.00 monthly, Rs 45,000.00 yearly. 3 branches, 5 counters (tills) per branch, 25 staff accounts per branch. - **Single Counter (Offline):** Rs 24,999.00 once (a lifetime licence, no yearly fee). 1 branch, 1 counter (till) per branch, 3 staff accounts per branch. - **Standard (Offline):** Rs 34,999.00 once (a lifetime licence, no yearly fee). 1 branch, 5 counters (tills) per branch, 10 staff accounts per branch. It cannot bill or change anything. https://bookspos.pk/owner-app - **Honest figures:** every figure shows the time its branch last reported ("data as of"); a branch not heard from for 15 minutes is marked STALE. Store PCs send new sales every 15 seconds while they have internet. Nothing is called live. - **Security:** the owner portal's email and password with two-step sign-in (authenticator code or recovery code), an app lock with the phone's fingerprint or PIN, bills and khata kept out of screenshots, and any phone signed out from the portal at once. - **Plans:** every Cloud plan, including the free trial. Not for the Offline edition, whose sales stay on the shop's PC. - **Availability:** Android 7.0 or later, downloaded as an APK from https://bookspos.pk/owner-app (version 1.1.0). It is optional: when a shop switches it on, the point of sale reports to FBR's POS system (PRAL IMS): - **Every bill reported:** each sale right after it is saved, through FBR's online API or FBR's Fiscal Component on the store PC, in Sandbox or Production; returns go as credit notes against the original invoice. - **Receipts:** the FBR invoice number and its QR code, the NTN, STRN and FBR POS ID. If FBR cannot be reached, the receipt says OFFLINE INVOICE and the invoice is sent automatically later; nothing waits at the counter. - **Tax and the Re 1 fee:** each item's own tax rate and PCT code, set by the owner or their tax adviser (BooksPOS does not choose them); the optional Re 1 POS service fee is kept out of sales and profit. - **Optional:** off until the shop switches it on in Settings; registering with FBR is done by the shop or its tax adviser; BooksPOS never prints an FBR invoice number that FBR did not issue, and the FBR access token stays on the store PC, never sent to BooksPOS Cloud. - Overview: https://bookspos.pk/fbr-integration - Setup guide: https://bookspos.pk/docs/fbr-pos-integration ## Common questions **Can I use BooksPOS today?** Yes: the Windows installer is at https://bookspos.pk/download, with its SHA-256 to check; the team can also set it up with a shop.
