Best POS software for book depots in Pakistan (2026): an honest comparison

First, who is writing this. We are Innobrains Technologies, and we make BooksPOS, one of the five products below. So this is not a neutral ranking, and we do not pretend it is one. What we can do honestly is describe each product from what its own maker says on its own website, tell you what to ask each of them, and leave the choice to you.

There is no single best POS for every book depot. A depot whose whole year turns on the school season needs different things from a city bookshop that sells online, and both need different things from a stationer with three branches. "Best" is the one that matches how your shop actually sells.

How this list was made

• Who is on it: products from Pakistani companies whose websites have a page for bookshops or stationery shops. General retail POS systems with no such page are not listed, though some depots use them.
• Where the facts come from: each maker's own product page, read on 30 September 2026. Every description below says "its page says" for that reason. Products change; check the page itself before you decide.
• What we did not do: we have not installed or used the other four products. Nothing here is a test result, and nothing here says how well any of them works. Where a page does not mention something, that is a question to ask the maker, not proof that the product lacks it.
• Order: alphabetical. It is not a ranking.

The questions that matter for a book depot

These are the things that decide whether a depot's records agree with its shelves at the end of the season. Put them to every product on this list, ours included. The full list, with why each matters, is in how to choose software for a book depot.

1. Does billing carry on when the internet is down, and where are the shop's records kept?
2. Is each edition of a book its own item with its own stock, and is a mistyped ISBN refused?
3. Can it bill a school's class list in one go, and leave out what the child already has?
4. Can it hold a parent's advance, and remember the books still owed to them?
5. Can it sell stationery by the piece, the dozen and the box from one stock figure?
6. Can it send unsold copies back to a publisher and follow the claim until the credit note comes?
7. Does it keep khata with a credit limit and a statement for each customer?
8. If your shop has to report to FBR, how does it do that, and what prints on the receipt?

The five, in alphabetical order

BooksPOS (Innobrains Technologies, Jhang)

This is ours. BooksPOS is built for book depots, stationers and school uniform sellers, and only for them.

• The till and the shop's records run on the shop's own Windows PC, so billing, returns and khata work with no internet; extra tills join over the shop network (offline and cloud).
• Every edition of a book is its own item, and an ISBN's check digit is verified, so a mistyped ISBN is refused (book inventory and ISBN).
• School course sets: a class list per school and session, put on the bill with one key, leaving out what the child already has (school course sets).
• School uniforms by size on the same till (school uniform shops).
• Parents' advances held apart from sales, customer orders for books still to come, and khata with credit limits and statements.
• Stationery sold by the piece, the dozen or the box from one stock figure (stationery POS).
• Publisher returns followed to the credit note, and books taken on sale or return.
• FBR POS integration, optional and off until the shop switches it on (FBR integration).
• On the Cloud edition, the owner sees each branch in the owner portal and in the Owner app for Android, always with the time the branch last reported. The Offline edition is a licence paid once.

CloudPOS (NetsTech Software Solutions, Gujrat)

CloudPOS has a page for stationery shops and bookstores. Its page says:

• barcode-based inventory control, with low stock alerts and reorder notifications;
• cash sales, credit customers and pending payments in one place;
• stock across several branches, and online and in-store sales together;
• local tax systems, naming FBR, SRB and KPRA;
• an "Offline Premium Module" among its features.

The page publishes yearly plans with a one-time setup fee, and offers a 7-day trial. Ask which plan includes the offline module, and questions 2, 3, 4 and 6 above.

Howmuch POS (Howmuch Pvt. Ltd, Lahore)

Howmuch has a page for bookstores. Its page says:

• it is cloud-based, so your data can be reached from anywhere at any time;
• it combines in-person and online sales, so stock, clients, sales and orders can be managed from any location.

Ask what the counter can do while the internet is down, and questions 2 to 7 above.

OneClick (Eyecon Consultant, Karachi)

Eyecon Consultant has a page for book store software. Its page says:

• books can be found at billing by publisher, author or ISBN;
• barcodes can be generated for books and stationery and scanned at the counter;
• reorder and minimum stock levels are managed;
• cash and credit sales, with a customer ledger;
• one branch or several;
• it is integrated with FBR's POS system, and can connect to an online shop.

The company lists uniform shop software as a separate product. Ask whether books and uniforms can be billed on one till, where the shop's records are kept, and questions 2, 3, 4 and 6 above.

Splendid Accounts (iSplendid, Karachi)

Splendid Accounts is accounting software with a page for bookstores. Its page says:

• stock of books with alerts when a title runs low;
• sales at the counter;
• a link to an online shop on WooCommerce or Shopify;
• several shop locations managed together.

Its menu lists FBR integration as a feature. Ask what the counter can do while the internet is down, and questions 2 to 7 above.

Which to look at first

• Your year is the school season. Class lists, parents' advances, books still owed and this year's edition kept apart from last year's are the questions to press hardest. BooksPOS is built around them; ask the others to show you each one on screen.
• You sell online as well as at the counter. CloudPOS, Howmuch POS, OneClick and Splendid Accounts all say on their pages that they connect the counter to online sales. Ask each for a demo with your own online shop.
• You want your accounts and your counter from one maker. Splendid Accounts starts from accounting. BooksPOS keeps a double-entry day book behind every sale, return and payment.
• You have several branches. All five mention more than one branch or location. Ask each how stock moves between branches and how the owner sees a branch that is offline.
• FBR has asked your shop to integrate. BooksPOS, CloudPOS, OneClick and Splendid Accounts mention FBR on their pages. How your shop must report is for your tax adviser to confirm, not for any software maker.

Test any of them in one afternoon

A demo on the maker's own data proves little. Ask to try it with yours:

1. Enter twenty of your own items: two editions of the same reader, a copy sold singly and by the dozen, and one book with no ISBN.
2. Enter one school's list for one class, then bill it for a child who already has two of the books.
3. Take an advance from a parent for a book that has not arrived, then hand the book over a week later.
4. Bill a customer on khata past their limit and see what happens.
5. Pull out the internet cable and ring up a sale, a return and a khata payment.
6. Send five unsold copies back to a publisher and see where the claim shows afterwards.

Whichever product gets through all six with your own items is the best one for your shop.

Common questions

Which is the best POS software for a book depot in Pakistan?

The one that passes the six tests above with your own items. For a depot that lives on the school season, the deciding questions are editions, class lists, advances and publisher returns. For a bookshop that sells mostly online, the link between the counter and the online shop matters more. We make BooksPOS for the first kind of shop, and say so.

Is this list complete?

No. It has only products whose makers have a page for bookshops or stationery shops that we found on 30 September 2026. General retail POS systems are left out, and there may be products we missed. If you make one, tell us and we will read your page and add it.

Have you tested the other products?
