School uniforms in every size, on the same till as the books
Shirts, trousers, ties and sweaters for each school, in every size: added once, billed by size and counted size by size, next to the class lists and the books.
Many book depots sell a school's uniform next to its books: shirts, trousers, ties and sweaters, each in several sizes, with the same rush when schools open. Typing every size in as a product of its own is slow, fills the till's search with near-identical lines and hides which sizes are running out. BooksPOS adds a uniform piece once, with all its sizes, and keeps each size as its own item with its own price, barcode and stock.
At the counter the piece shows once in the search, and Which size? lists every size with its price and how many are in stock. The bill and the receipt name the size ("Shirt – City School (26)"), Stock › Uniform sizes shows every size of a piece on one line, and a school's course set can include the uniform, so a parent gets the books and the uniform on one bill. This works in the current build and is covered by automated tests.

What works for uniforms today
One price, the dearer sizes by hand
Fill one price into every size, then change the sizes that cost more. A wholesale price, a tax rate and a low-stock mark are optional.
Each size its own item
Every size has its own SKU, price, barcode and stock. A size with its own barcode scans straight in; the others get a BooksPOS label that says "Size 26".
Which size? at the till
The search shows a piece once, with its sizes. Choosing it asks Which size?, with each size's price and stock. Bills, receipts and returns name the size.
Every size's stock on one line
Stock › Uniform sizes shows each piece with every size's stock at every place: a size with none left in red, a low one in amber.
Uniforms in school sets
A class list can include a uniform line that takes any size of the piece. The till asks the child's size, and the set discount applies.

The school rush, size by size
A size is an ordinary item
Returns, purchases, stock counts, godown moves, labels, khata and the day book work for each size as for any item, and stock never goes below zero.
Bring your list from Excel
Import uniforms from CSV with the type "uniform", one row per size. A row without a size, or the same size twice, is shown as an error before anything is saved.
Branches and the Owner app
Stock sent to another branch arrives as the same size of the same piece. On the Cloud edition the owner portal and the Owner app show each size, such as "Shirt – City School (26)".
Getting started
From your price list to the first uniform bill

Add each piece
Catalog › New uniform: the piece and school, the sizes typed once, one price for every size, and the dearer sizes changed by hand.

Bring in the stock
Receive the supplier's bill or enter opening stock, one line per size, or import every size from a CSV file.

Print the labels
Sizes without a barcode of their own get a BooksPOS label that says the size, on A4 sheets or a label roll.

Sell, and watch the sizes
At the till choose the piece and the size. Stock › Uniform sizes shows which sizes are running out.

No. Catalog › New uniform takes the sizes once, such as "22 24 26 28 30" or "S, M, L, XL", and makes a row for each, smallest first. One price fills every row, and you change the dearer sizes by hand. More sizes can be added to the piece later.
The till's search shows the piece once, with its sizes. Choosing it opens Which size?, with each size's price and how many are in stock. Scanning a size's own barcode, or its BooksPOS label, adds that size straight away.
Yes. A class list can include a uniform line that takes any size of that piece. When the set is added at the till (F6), BooksPOS asks the child's size and bills it with the set discount. Another piece is never accepted on that line.
