Wholesale and credit

Wholesale prices and credit customers, on the same till

Schools, institutions and other shops buy at wholesale rates, often on credit and in parts. This is what BooksPOS supports for them today.

Many book depots are also distributors: they supply schools, institutions and smaller shops at their own prices, on credit, and deliver in parts. BooksPOS handles that from the same till: a wholesale price for every unit, named price lists for groups of customers, quantity breaks, credit limits and a khata statement for each customer.

Negotiated prices are never mixed with walk-in promotions, and every bill line says where its price came from. BooksPOS is in development and not yet used in a shop.

Wholesale and credit

Selling to schools and shops

Wholesale price per unit

Each item and each of its packs has a retail and a wholesale price, dated, with history kept.

Price lists

A named, dated price list for a school or a group of shops: their own item prices, or a discount off a publisher or a category.

Quantity breaks

A lower price from a set quantity, per unit. One source sets each price and nothing stacks.

Credit limits and khata

A bill on account up to the customer's limit, and a statement of every bill and payment with a running balance.

Orders delivered later

Order (F7) holds copies for the customer; hand the goods over in one go or in parts, each at the agreed price.

Who owes what

Customer and supplier ageing in the owner reports: who owes you, and whom you owe, by how long.

Why BooksPOS

Credit that stays in check

Customer types

Retail, school, institution or wholesale, set per customer and brought in from your old list with opening balances.

Payments by any route

Money owed comes in as cash through the drawer, bank transfer, card or wallet, and shows on the customer's statement.

Branches

Stock can be sent between branches at its cost; the other branch counts it in and any shortage is written off there with a note.
